AREAS AFFECTED: Pine Ridge/Nebraska National Forest; Box Butte/South Sioux/Niobrara River; Lower North Platte River Basin/Scottsbluff National Monument; Lodgepole Creek/Southern Nebraska Panhandle; Niobrara/Lower Elevations of Converse/Thunder Basin National Grassland; Middle North Platte River Basin/Niobrara and Converse High Plains; North Laramie Range and Adjacent High Plains; Laramie Foothills and High Plains; Laramie East High Plains; Bordeaux/Chugwater/Wheatland; Goshen/Middle-Lower North Platte River Basin
DESCRIPTION: ...Multi Day Red Flag Warning... .Critical fire conditions are expected through the week, with poor overnight humidity recoveries and no precipitation. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zone 417, 418, 419, 430, 431, 432, 433, 434, 435, 436, and 437. * WIND...Sustained winds 20 to 30 mph, gusting up to 35 mph. * HUMIDITY...10 to 15 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Poor overnight humidity recoveries are expected for the duration of the Red Flag Warning. Well above average temperatures are also expected which will contribute considerably to the dry conditions.
INSTRUCTION: A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Freezing rain is a condition where precipitation which has fallen in the form of
water droplets reaches temperatures which are below freezing and freezes upon
coming into contact
with surface objects. The result of this precipitation is a glaze of ice which
can be damaging to plants and man-made structures. A severe onset of freezing
rain which results in a very thick glaze of ice is known as an ice storm.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
As the hailstones remain in the updraft, ice is deposited onto them until their
weight becomes heavy enough for them to fall to the earth's surface.
Hail storms can cause significant damage to crops, aircrafts, and man-made structures,
despite the fact that the duration is usually less than ten minutes.
